4. Getting a certificate for train delay- When a train runs late even by 5 minutes, they not only apologize but a staff is placed at each station to distribute a train delay certificate which can be provided to the boss or other authority as an acceptable excuse for being late.
5. Disaster Management system- 20% of all earthquakes over magnitude 6 happen in Japan yet roads destroyed by earthquakes get repaired within a week. They have also created 5 huge cylindrical shafts underneath Tokyo which will fill with water during floods and won’t affect the city.
6. Lost items are recovered- If you lose personal items like phones, wallets or even umbrellas, they are almost always turned into the lost and found or nearest police station. In fact Tokyo lost and found $32 million in cash in one year!
